Two books to devour

Some books I want to read slowly and savor every word.  Other books just keep me turning the pages and I put off the rest of my life to keep reading.  Two recent books were of this “devouring kind”.  The Hunger Games (Collins) is a fast paced action, adventure, mystery, romance, sci-fi novel.  Really, it has elements of all of those genres.  I found the main character’s voice engaging and I read the entire book in a day.  The ethical dilemmas and deaths make this a YA selection for me.   I wanted to read IQ Book One Independence Hall all in one day, but grading papers had to take precedence much to my chagrin.  This is more of a classic spy novel–with fun references to Ian Fleming, but it isn’t as bloody as some of this genre, probably could be read by older intermediate kids and definitely YA.  Both books seem to be part one of new series so I look forward to reading more.
